Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
